Music was never a question for Xander Smooth — only a matter of when.
Born in Jamaica and based in Boston, he came up singing gospel in the church choir, teaching himself the phrasing of the greats: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Michael Bolton. That ear for melody and emotion never left him, even through a successful career in IT — the pull back to his first love was simply too strong to ignore.
In the summer of 2020, he answered it. Since then he’s released a string of singles that have found listeners around the world. His lane is the ballad: he means every word, moving from a full-chest belt on a heartbreak track to a weightless falsetto on something tender — contemporary R&B and soul built on an old-school foundation.
Recent sessions in Hollywood and Beverly Hills have sharpened both his sound and his instincts, and he’s pouring all of it into his biggest year yet: a debut album in 2026.
